Perspectum forms clinical network, promotes research

Image analysis software developer Perspectum Diagnostics has joined forces with clinical research organization SC Liver Research Consortium to form a U.S.-based clinical network aimed at supporting drug development for liver disorders.

The network, which includes private clinical sites and large academic centers in the U.S. that are using the firm's LiverMultiScan multiparametric MRI software, will provide imaging services for clinical trials, according to Perspectum. Current institutions participating in the network include Gulf Coast Research in Houston, Cincinnati Clinical Research in Cincinnati, Digestive Healthcare of Georgia in Atlanta, Baylor University in Dallas, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, and Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

In other Perspectum news, the company is directing attention to a new research study that reported positive results for its LiverMultiScan software. The study, published April 10 in PLOS One, demonstrated the technical performance of LiverMultiScan for measuring three key liver disease biomarkers: iron, fibro-inflammation, and fat, according to the firm.

The researchers from Perspectum, the University of Oxford in the U.K., and the University of Westminster in London found that multiparametric MRI was a repeatable and reproducible method for quantifying liver tissue characteristics, even across equipment from different vendors and field strengths.
