In a move aimed at expanding its presence in the Canadian radiology market, Fujifilm Canada has created a new medical systems division that will market and sell its diagnostic imaging products in the country.

Following receipt of licenses from Health Canada, the new division plans to debut a broad range of digital radiography (DR) and women's health offerings, such as portable x-ray systems, a DR suite, new flat-panel detectors, and a full-field digital mammography system with digital breast tomosynthesis capability, according to the vendor.

Fujifilm noted, however, that it will retain its relationship with its longtime distributor Christie Innomed, which will continue on as its exclusive authorized Canadian distributor of the Synapse healthcare IT product line. In addition, Christie Innomed will remain an authorized Canadian distributor of select premium computed radiography and DR imaging equipment to hospitals, clinics, and healthcare providers, Fujifilm said.
