The Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR) has named Keith Hume as the organization's new executive director.

Hume will begin his new role on January 15, 2021. He replaces Susan Sedory, who left the position in July to serve as executive director of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

As executive director, Hume is tasked with advancing SIR's advocacy, education, and policy efforts that promote interventional radiology and ensure patient access to minimally invasive, image-guided treatments. His background includes nearly two decades of healthcare association executive experience, most recently at the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the Plastic Surgery Foundation.

Hume also served as the executive director of the SIR Foundation from 2003-2008. He holds a B.S. degree from the College of William and Mary and an M.A. focused on autonomic and cardiovascular regulation from the University of Georgia.
