Controversial neuroradiologist Dr. Scott Atlas has deleted his Twitter account, according to news reports.

Atlas deleted his account following the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol, according to a January 12 article on STAT. Atlas told a STAT reporter that he deleted the account following Twitter's purge of accounts related to extremism and QAnon content, saying he felt Twitter had become "a destructive place."

The Twitter purge resulted in many conservative personalities losing thousands of followers. The STAT article said that Atlas himself had lost 12,000 followers of his account.

Atlas is a neuroradiologist who served as an advisor to President Donald Trump on the COVID-19 pandemic from August to November, despite having no formal training in virology or epidemiology. He drew fire for his advice to take a conservative approach to dealing with the pandemic by keeping schools and businesses open.
