Study: States committed to value-based payment models

A national study conducted by IT software developer Change Healthcare has found that the majority of U.S. states remain committed to developing value-based healthcare payment programs.

Across the country, 40 states are pursuing value-based programs, according to the report. Twenty-three have value-based mandates that payors and providers must achieve, 17 have or are considering adopting accountable care organizations (ACOs), and 12 have or are considering episodes-of-care programs.

Only seven states have little or no activity in terms of developing these types of payment models, Change noted.
