Imaging center accused of withholding patient records

A radiology imaging center in Franklin, TN, that has closed its doors has been charged with refusing to provide health records to patients without additional payment, say local news reports.

Breast cancer survivors who previously received imaging services at Digital Diagnostics no longer have access to test results they need to proceed with treatment, according to an article published January 18 on WSMV.com. Upon requesting their records, patients received a letter that threatened them with referral to a debt collection agency unless surcharges were paid, the article claimed.

Business owner Mark Winters has filed for bankruptcy several times and has a lien against him amounting to nearly $1 million, according to the story. Clients of the imaging center should not send money, and they should contact the Better Business Bureau (BBB) if they already have, according to Robyn Householder, president and CEO of BBB Middle Tennessee.
