GE completes MBI install in Detroit

GE Healthcare has installed its Discovery NM750b molecular breast imaging (MBI) system at the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Institute in Detroit.

Discovery NM750b is designed to detect breast cancer in women considered to be at high-risk, especially women with dense breast tissue. The device features dual solid-state cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) digital detectors and up-close positioning for enhanced imaging sensitivity. The patient can choose to sit or stand during the scan, and each image view takes up to 10 minutes.

The cancer center is the third location to offer this technology in the U.S. and the first in the Midwest. GE launched the Discovery NM750b globally in 2011.
