NorthStar Medical Technologies has promoted Stephen Merrick, formerly president and chief operating officer (COO), to president and CEO.

Merrick joined NorthStar in March 2016, initially as COO and then later as president and COO. He replaces outgoing chairman and CEO George Messina, who has been named chairman emeritus and also appointed as president and CEO of NorthStar Nuclear Therapies -- a wholly owned NorthStar subsidiary that's developing medical isotopes for therapeutic applications.

Meanwhile, Diane Hendricks, chairperson of Hendricks Holding, has become the chairperson for both companies' board of managers, according to NorthStar.
