Radium awarded radiation shielding patent

Radiation protection technology developer Radium has received a patent from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its ClearView transparent radiation shield.

U.S. patent No. 10,262,736, "Systems, Devices, and/or Methods for Managing Radiation Shielding," includes 20 claims for the shields, which are 50% lighter in weight than lead and provide equivalent attenuation from high-energy gammas, according to the firm. ClearView shields have been used in the nuclear, medical, and radiopharmaceutical industries for more than two years, including at institutions such as Boston Children's Hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City, and C. S. Mott Children's Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI, Radium said.
