Stony Brook honors MRI developer Lauterbur

Stony Brook University has named a street leading to its new Medical and Research Translation (MART) building in honor of the late Dr. Paul Lauterbur, a developer of modern MRI and the recipient of a 2003 Nobel Prize.

As part of a dedication ceremony, a local section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) also presented Stony Brook with a historic plaque commemorating the work of Lauterbur, who was a chemistry professor at the university.
