Neuro42 recently entered into an exclusive licensing agreement with Johns Hopkins University for an MR-compatible robot that the university has developed for performing image-guided interventions.

Neuro42 said the novel architecture of its MRI system will enable the robot to facilitate image-guided interventions during brain biopsies, shunt placements, and laser ablations. This will give neurosurgeons a more practical intraoperative solution for such procedures compared with a traditional MRI scanner, the company said.

The robot provides targeted needle insertion with precision depth control and is designed with nonmagnetic and nonconductive materials to be compatible with MRI scanners.
