Ga. adopts dense breast notification law

Georgia has become the 38th state in the U.S. to mandate that women be notified of their dense breast condition and the associated risks.

Gov. Brian Kemp signed HB 62 into law. The bill, also known in Georgia as "Margie's law," was introduced through a grassroots advocacy effort led by Margie Singleton of Savannah, GA, according to breast density education group DenseBreast-info.org. Singleton was diagnosed with a breast cancer that was missed on screening mammography due to her dense breast tissue.
