Radiology software developer and startup Sirona Medical has raised $22.5 million in Series A financing and announced partnerships with five regional radiology groups to develop what it calls the radiology operating system (RadOS).
Designed to unify fragmented radiology IT systems and simplify workflow in a fully integrated workspace, RadOS includes embedded machine-learning tools and enables radiologists to focus on the image and diagnosis rather than managing disparate technological components, according to the vendor. The San Francisco-based Sirona was founded in 2018 and recently emerged from stealth mode.
It will be collaborating with the following five radiology practices to develop and commercialize RadOS:
- California Advanced Imaging Medical Associates in San Francisco
- Hackensack Radiology Group in Oradell, NJ
- South Texas Radiology Group in San Antonio, TX
- Triad Radiology Group in Winston Salem, NC
- Radiology Associates of North Texas in Fort Worth, TX
In 2020, Sirona raised $22.5 million in a series A and A-1 financing round led by venture capital firm 8VC. Executives at Sirona include Chief Medical Officer Dr. Alan Kaye (former president of the American College of Radiology) as well as industry veterans from companies such as Sectra, Arterys, R2 Technologies, and others, Sirona said.
Advisors include Dr. Curt Langlotz, PhD, of Stanford University; Chris Wood, former chief technology officer at Intelerad Medical Systems; Ron Paulus, former CEO at Mission Health; and Bob Baumgartner, executive chairman of the board at the Center for Diagnostic Imaging.
