Accuray appoints chief medical, technology officer

Radiation oncology firm Accuray has signed Dr. Jean-Philippe Pignol, PhD, to be its chief medical and technology officer.

Pignol will lead the firm's scientific and clinical research activities, develop strategic collaborations with global opinion leaders, and evaluate new technologies. He will also serve as Accuray's executive representative to industry partners such as medical societies, as well as regulatory and legislative agencies, according to the company.

Accuray said that Pignol comes to the firm with more than 26 years of academic and clinical practice experience, including serving as professor and department head for radiation oncology at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada. Prior to that, Pignol was a professor and chair of radiation oncology at Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands.
