Nuclear technology company Phoenix has become a wholly owned subsidiary of medical isotope firm Shine Medical Technologies, the companies announced.

Shine is focused on the commercialization of medical isotopes using clean fusion energy, while Phoenix designs and manufactures steady-state fusion neutron generators used for advanced industrial imaging and other applications. The companies have been collaborating for the past 11 years.

This month, Shine began producing lutetium-177. In 2022, Shine expects to commence production of up to 20 million doses of molybdenum-99 per year in its fusion-powered production facility in Janesville, WI. The facility is expected to be the world's largest-capacity medical isotope production plant.
