Contrast developer E-Z-EM reported net sales of $27.4 million in its fiscal third quarter, up 6.3% from the $25.8 million posted in the fiscal third quarter of 2000. For the period (end-March 3), the Westbury, NY-based firm had net earnings of $106,000, compared with net earnings of $516,000 last year.
While sales in the firm's diagnostic segment increased 6%, the quarterly results were affected by increased spending to position E-Z-EM for new markets and growth opportunities, according to president and CEO Anthony Lombardo.
