CLEVELAND - The last full day of the 19th Symposium for Computer Applications in Radiology gets underway with exhibitor presentations, again beginning at 7 a.m.
SCAR's final round of scientific sessions starts at 8 a.m., with concurrent sessions on reading rooms, miscellaneous, and vendor topics planned. At 10 a.m., a special session on physical design considerations for the filmless imaging department will be presented.
Today's morning SCAR U senior sessions cover operational issues with workstation QC and emerging technologies. At 12:30, the 2nd SCAR research and development committee symposium, "Technologist productivity: a comparison of film-based and filmless operations," will be presented.
The symposium will be moderated by Katherine Andriole, Ph.D., of the University of California, San Francisco, and Dr. Bruce Reiner of the University of Maryland in Baltimore and Nanticoke Memorial Hospital in Seaford, DE. They will present and analyze results from a SCAR-sponsored technologist productivity survey.
At 1:30, SCAR will hold HealthSphere Summit, a forum that will tackle the topic, "Embracing the Healthcare Enterprise." Panelists will discuss the revolution and electronic evolution of the healthcare delivery system, according to SCAR.
Posters and demonstrations will be open in the early afternoon, and a special session on image perception issues in a soft-copy reading environment is scheduled.
The day winds down with a practical bent; SCAR U senior sessions will be presented on "How to: A practical user's guide," and quality control. In addition, a special session on structured reporting will be chaired by Curtis Langlotz, Ph.D.
