CHICAGO - Mallinckrodt has added two new contrast delivery systems. A compact power contrast injector, OptiStat is suitable for CT, general x-ray, and intravenous pyelography (IVP) procedures, as well as CT mobile coaches, according to the St. Louis-based vendor.
OptiStat can be used independently or interfaced to a larger, full-featured CT injector, Mallinckrodt said. Users can also deliver large volumes of contrast or saline following a contrast injection. In addition, OptiStat can serve as a back-up injector when a facility's primary CT injector is experiencing downtime, the company said.
In other new contrast injector introductions, Mallinckrodt has launched Optistar LE, an AC-powered MR contrast injector. Mallinckrodt said it has incorporated an enhanced user interface into Optistar LE along with a touchscreen console, allowing for easy setting of the injection rate and amount of contrast or saline.
An independent, dual-syringe powerhead can accommodate a full line of disposable and prefilled syringes, the firm said. Both single or dual phase injections can be performed.
In urology, Mallinckrodt has added a dual-monitor viewing option to its Liebel-Flarsheim Hydra Vision DR urological imaging system. The dual, 18-inch diagonal monitors can be moved via a triple articulating arm. The system's images can be sent within the hospital via a DICOM-compliant PACS network, archived on an optical disk, or transmitted via phone lines using an existing teleradiology network, according to the company.
