Radiologic technologists are among the most sought-after professionals in healthcare, according to the results of a new survey of recruiting incentives in the field. Consequently, RTs are finding they can demand higher salaries and better benefit packages, according to the article featured this week in our Imaging Center Digital Community.
An aging U.S. population and an increasing number of imaging centers and radiation therapy sites is driving demand for RTs. Radiation therapy technologists are at the top of the heap, with the number of job searches conducted last year rising 131%. X-ray technologists also enjoyed strong demand, with the number of job searches growing 78%, while the number of job searches for sonographers and vascular technologists rose moderately.
Salaries are also increasing. Once again, radiation therapy technologists are leading the way in terms of salary growth, with average salary offers rising 22% year over year. Offers to x-ray technologists grew 9.5%, while offers to vascular technologists went up 7.5% and CT technologists grew 6.4%.
