India makes its mark in radiology

Dear AuntMinnieIndia Member,

The last fortnight has been a very interesting one. Not only because of Diwali, the festival of lights, but also because of some exciting vendor announcements.

First, multimodality vendor Siemens announced it had installed the first 64-slice CT scanner in India, the Somatom Sensation Cardiac 64, at a radiology practice in Mumbai. Siemens also dropped broad hints that there were more such announcements down the pipeline.

Whether this is marketing buzz or brisk business, only time will tell. But clearly, India is getting on the radiology map (yeah, that's why we're here) and not just on CT. Ultrasound contrast, which is new the world over, is also likely to come to India. The company bringing it here is Imaging Products (India) Pvt. Ltd.

You'll find all this and more on AuntMinnieIndia.com. Also look for clinical updates that feature imaging strategies for renal artery stenosis from the 6th Asia-Pacific Congress of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiology. Last but not least, there is some key news on tuberculosis that concerns all our members from India.
