NAS nets Chinese tomotherapy contract

Radiation therapy firm North American Scientific said it has delivered the first order for its Peacock treatment planning software and ancillary products to an oncology hospital in the People's Republic of China.

Peacock is a serial tomotherapy system designed for the treatment of various types of cancer with intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT). Peacock is the principal product of NAS' Nomos subsidiary.

NAS said that it received regulatory approval to market Peacock from the People's Republic of China State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA) in September last year.

The total value of the contract with the oncology hospital is approximately $390,000, according to the Chatsworth, CA-based NAS.
