GE Healthcare has named Kieran Murphy as president and CEO of its Life Sciences division.
Murphy replaces Peter Ehrenheim, who is retiring after a career with the company that began in 1983. He started as a mechanical designer with Pharmacia, which was acquired by Amersham International, which, in turn, was purchased by GE in 2004.
Murphy joined GE after its 2008 acquisition of Whatman, where he was CEO. Since then, he helped grow GE's Life Sciences business, initially as a commercial leader for its Europe-Middle East-Africa (EMEA) sector and Asia growth markets, then in his current role as head of global commercial operations for the Life Sciences division.
