Stony Brook Medicine plans to establish a new advanced cardiovascular imaging position as a result of a $750,000 pledge from Charles Gargano, former U.S. Ambassador to Trinidad and Tobago.
The pledge will be matched in kind by the Simons Foundation Challenge and by Jim and Marilyn Simons, for a total donation of $1.5 million, according to Stony Brook.
The university said it will use the funds to attract an accomplished, research-oriented scientist and clinician who is dedicated to finding new methods of diagnosis and treatment. The holder of the Ambassador Charles Gargano Chair in Advanced Cardiovascular Imaging will serve as an institutional leader in advanced cardiovascular imaging, Stony Brook said.
