The Academy of Radiology Research (ARR) is expressing its support for HR 6, the 21st Century Cures Act.
The legislation features an Innovation Fund that will provide $8.75 billion to the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH) over five years. More than 89% of the diseases studied at the NIH involve imaging for their diagnosis and treatment, and the Innovation Fund will enable imaging researchers to continue to develop the tools and techniques necessary to solve the country's most pressing health problems, the academy said.
HR 6 has been championed by Rep. Fred Upton (R-MI), Rep. Diana DeGette (D-CO), Rep. Frank Pallone (D-NJ), and 230 co-sponsors.
