Healthcare consultancy ECRI Institute has formed a partnership with the London School of Economics and Political Science to work on a medical device pricing project.
Medical devices account for 6% to 7% of total health expenditures in the U.S. and European countries, but little is known about the factors that determine prices, according to ECRI.
The collaboration will explore how medical devices are priced across a range of different countries, ECRI said. The two organizations hope the research will make device pricing more transparent.
