Siemens Healthineers has decided to separate its operations in the Asia-Pacific region into two separate zones, with one focusing on China, while the other includes Japan and other countries.

Siemens Healthineers said the move would allow both China and the rest of the region to "achieve their full potential." The China business will be headed by Jerry Wang, who has led the company's operations in China since 2018. The company noted that China is expected to be the largest market for medical technology in the world by 2030.

The other region will be called the Asia-Pacific Japan region, and it will be led by Vy Tran, who previously was chief compliance and quality officer for Varian, Siemens' radiation therapy business. Tran joined Varian in 1998.

Siemens said the executive moves follow the promotion of the former head of the Asia-Pacific region, Elisabeth Staudinger, to the managing board of Siemens Healthineers. Staudinger will have responsibility at the board level for the two new regions.
