Week in review: ChatGPT-4 and PDAC | Interventional coding | Mammo + ultrasound tomo finds more cancer

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

How "perfect" is ChatGPT-4? A team from the University of Toronto in Canada found it's pretty close when it comes to creating structured, summarized radiology reports for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), according to our top story of the week. The researchers reported that the AI tool outperformed GPT-3.5 for this task, noting their results could translate to improved surgical decision-making.

Our second most-read story featured tips from Erin Stephens of Healthcare Administrative Partners about how best to code for interventional radiology (IR) reimbursement (spoiler alert: thorough documentation that includes all required elements and a coding team highly trained in IR go a long way). Click here to get the full details.

In third place this week was our reportage on how combining mammography with ultrasound tomography improves cancer detection for women with dense breast tissue. A team from the University of California, Los Angeles found that the combined method outperformed full-field digital mammography by itself, including having higher sensitivity for BI-RADS 4 lesions and higher specificity for BI-RADS 3 lesions. Get the scoop here.

Finally, we invite you to continue tracking our weekly "25 for 25" series, which will feature each year's most popular story since the inception of AuntMinnie.com in 1999 and culminate at RSNA 2024. (In fact, our article on imaging and Y2K made the top story list for the week.) You can check out new articles every Monday here.
