The survey showed that, when it comes to cardiology-related procedure volumes, 71% of sites anticipate CT procedures will increase year-over-year, while 61% anticipate an increase of this kind for ultrasound and 51% for SPECT.

Regarding modalities used for cardiology-related imaging, 68% of sites use SPECT, 64% use CT, and 63% use ultrasound. Most sites that perform cardiology-related imaging procedures across all modalities have imaging equipment from GE Healthcare (65%), Siemens Healthineers (48%), and Philips (45%).

SPECT 68%
CT 64%
Ultrasound 63%

Of survey respondents, 93% indicated that cardiologists are the main source of referrals for cardiology-related imaging procedures, followed by primary care physicians (82%) and internal medicine physicians (70%).

As for department operations, the survey found that a wait time of less than 24 hours for scheduled cardiology-related imaging appointments was 47% of sites for CT exams; 47% of sites for ultrasound; and 34% of sites for SPECT imaging.
