Week in Review: PET tracer boosts insulinoma detection | 11.7T MRI safety | Sleep and brain health

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

Our most-read story this week covered research that described how a new PET/CT radiotracer that detects insulinomas could eliminate the need for other diagnostic procedures in a majority of patients. A team from Radboud University Medical Center in Nijmegen, the Netherlands, compared PET/CT imaging with gallium-68 NODAGA-exendin-4 PET/CT with all routine imaging procedures for the localization of insulinomas and found that the accuracy of exendin PET/CT was higher than that of any other technique.

Taking the second spot was our article regarding the methods and techniques used to obtain images of the human brain in vivo on an 11.7-tesla MRI system, while in third place was reporting on a study that shows how people in early middle age with poor sleep quality exhibit signs of poor brain health later in life.

Our fourth-ranked article of the week reported on GE HealthCare's (GEHC) launch of its AI Innovation Lab, an initiative intended to support early-concept AI innovations, while the fifth most-read story covered a study that suggests that time-dependent diffusion MRI-based microstructural mapping can help predict breast cancer molecular subtypes and treatment response in women with the disease.

The Society for Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) held its Conference on Machine Intelligence in Medical Imaging (CMIMI) in Boston this week (click here for our RADCast of the event). AuntMinnie.com members read our coverage of the meeting with interest, navigating to a story on best practices for radiology AI deployment and two videos, one with Nina Kottler, MD, of Radiology Partners of El Segundo, CA, that outlined strategies for success with radiology AI and another with Da Zheng, PhD, of Boston Children's Hospital and Harvard Medical School that explained why collaboration is key to further advancing AI in imaging.

Unfortunately, the war in Ukraine continues. This week we posted an article on the country's primary pediatric hospital's efforts to rebuild after a bomb attack.
