Medrad to distribute CT-Guide

Contrast injector firm Medrad announced today that it will become the exclusive distributor in the U.S. and France of CT-Guide. Developed by Israeli firm UltraGuide, CT-Guide is a visual guidance system used with CT imaging to make minimally invasive surgical procedures more accurate and comfortable for patients, according to Indianola, PA-based Medrad.

CT-Guide graphically displays the projected path of the surgical instrument on the same screen as the CT image, both before insertion and through the entire procedure, according to Medrad.

The system’s 3-D graphics allow for a physician to maneuver the surgical tool on any chosen trajectory, while CT-Guide’s respiratory gating feature overcomes breathing-related inaccuracies by monitoring the real-time motion of the target related to its position at the time of the scan, according to the vendor. CT-Guide has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance and European CE Mark approval.

The distribution deal is the second for Medrad in the interventional guidance sector. In November, the company announced a November agreement with Norwegian firm NeoRad for its SimpliCT CT guidance device.
