Siemens Healthcare announced that every new system in its Somatom CT product line complies with the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance's (MITA) new Smart Dose radiation dose reduction standard.
The Somatom scanners include Emotion, the Definition AS family, Definition Flash, Definition Edge, and Perspective. Siemens said it worked with MITA to develop the standard, also known as XR-29 "Standard Attributes on Computed Tomography (CT) Equipment Related to Dose Optimization and Management."
XR-29 includes four key features of CT equipment designed to help physicians and technologists optimize and manage radiation dose: DICOM dose structured reporting, preloaded pediatric and adult reference protocols, automated exposure controls, and CT Dose Check, according to Siemens.
