AHRA, Toshiba announce Putting Patients First grant winners

The seven winners of the 2016 Putting Patients First grants by AHRA and Toshiba America Medical Systems have been announced.

The grants will fund education and training programs to improve safety and the patient experience in diagnostic imaging. AHRA and Toshiba awarded one grant of up to $20,000 to an integrated delivery network and six grants of up to $7,500 -- three focused on pediatric imaging and three on overall patient care and safety in imaging.

The $20,000 grant was awarded to the University of Virginia Health System in Charlottesville, VA, which will implement a comprehensive MRI education program targeting children and their parents to help reduce pediatric sedation and anesthesia during exams.

The other grants were awarded to the following sites:

  • Children's Hospital Los Angeles
  • ProMedica Toledo Hospital in Ohio
  • Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center
  • Boca Raton Regional Hospital in Boca Raton, FL
  • Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, NJ
  • Jefferson Outpatient Imaging in East Norriton, PA
