Siemens Healthineers has installed its first Somatom Drive CT scanner in the U.S., at the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital in Iowa City.
Somatom Drive is designed for a range of clinical disciplines, including pediatrics, emergency medicine, cardiology, and oncology.
The scanner features the company's new Straton MX Sigma x-ray tube with adjustable voltages in 10-kV increments, ranging from 70 kV to 140 kV, to tailor radiation dose to each patient. In addition, Sigma generators permit enhanced targeted beam focusing for optimum imaging results, Siemens said.
