ACR, ASTRO, AAPM provide guidance updates

The American College of Radiology (ACR), the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) have updated standards for the safe and effective use of diagnostic and therapeutic radiology.

To improve care quality with specific training and technique guidance, the ACR and ASTRO have made available the revised "ACR-ASTRO Practice Parameter for the Performance of Total Body Irradiation."

In addition, the ACR and AAPM have updated the "ACR-AAPM Technical Standard for Diagnostic Medical Physics Performance Monitoring of Computed Tomography (CT) Equipment."

Both documents are currently available and take effect August 1. The ACR practice parameters and technical standards can be accessed on the ACR's website at no charge.
