West Virginia University Hospitals has unveiled a fully mobile coach with an onboard CT scanner that will provide CT lung cancer screening in rural areas of West Virginia.
Called LUCAS (lung cancer screening), the mobile unit will serve patients from across the state with visits in the 42 West Virginia counties that don't have immediate access to lung cancer screening services. It can serve up to 20 patients a day.
The LUCAS project is a collaboration between WVU Cancer Institute and WVU Hospitals, as well as Canon Medical Systems and the Lung Cancer Initiative at Johnson & Johnson.
