Two ultrasound densitometers moved closer to market with news that the Food and Drug Administration has granted premarket approval to McCue's CubaClinical bone sonometery system and Sunlight Ultrasound Technologies' Omnisense ultrasound bone sonometer.
CubaClinical measures broadband ultrasound attenuation and velocity of sound, according to Sarasota, FL-based McCue. Omnisense provides quantitative measurement of the velocity of ultrasound waves along the distal one-third of the radius bone, providing a measure of skeletal fragility, according to Israel-based Sunlight.
