Norland reports lower Q1 results

While announcing a new service agreement with Marconi Medical Systems of Cleveland, bone densitometry vendor Norland Medical Systems posted lower revenues for the period (end-March 31). The White Plains, NY-based Norland booked revenues of $3.7 million for the quarter, down from the $4.8 million reported for the same quarter last year. Still, Norland managed to cut its overall net loss slightly to $579,000, compared with a net loss of $615,000 in the first quarter of 1999. The firm attributed the results to a weak U.S. market, mitigated in part by stronger international demand for its products.

At the same time, the firm announced a new agreement with Marconi to service Norland's Excell, Excell plus, XR36, and XR 46 table scanners in the U.S. Norland chairman and CEO Reynald G. Bonmati said the deal will lead to faster service of the company's installed base.
