Bone densitometry and digital x-ray provider Hologic reported fiscal second-quarter revenues of $43.7 million, compared with $23.3 million reported in the same period last year. For the quarter (end-March 25), the Bedford, MA-based firm had a net loss of $7.9 million, compared with a net loss of $2.2 million last year.
Absent the losses incurred at Hologic's Direct Radiography subsidiary, the company would have reported a net loss of approximately $1.7 million. Since the acquisition of Trex Medical in September, Hologic has invested considerable resources on integrating the manufacturing processes, R&D efforts, and marketing initiatives for each of its divisions, according to David Ellenbogen, chairman and CEO.
As part of this effort, Hologic closed its Fluoroscan manufacturing facility in Northbrook, IL, on April 27, and relocated its operations to Hologic's Bedford, MA, headquarters. Hologic does not expect any delays in manufacturing or delivering its C-arm systems.
