ArteriA Medical Science of San Francisco has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for its Parodi Catheter for Angiography. The ParCA gives physicians control over blood flow during angiography procedures, and allows them to take numerous images with only one dose of contrast agent, according to the company. Dr. Juan Parodi of the Instituto Cardiovascular de Buenos Aires in Argentina invented the device.
ArteriA, which is a division of San Francisco Science, also got a green light to market the Parodi Anti-Emboli System (PAES) in Australia. Its two main components are the Parodi External Balloon catheter device and the Parodi Anti-Emboli catheter device.
