Hologic names Stein as interim CEO

Bone densitometry and x-ray firm Hologic has appointed executive vice president and chief technical officer Jay Stein as chairman and interim CEO. Stein replaces chairman and CEO David Ellenbogen, who passed away unexpectedly early Thursday morning from heart failure. Stein co-founded Hologic with Ellenbogen in October 1985. The Bedford, MA-based firm's board of directors has authorized a search to fill the CEO position on a permanent basis.
