Eastman Kodak will be releasing a variety of new products and upgrades in the third quarter. The Rochester, NY-based firm will be rolling out new software and product features for its DirectView CR 800 and CR 900 systems.
The features, designed to improve workflow and maximize productivity for CR users, include what Kodak calls Remote Patient Data Entry software. The application will be available by the end of August, and will allow any networked PC to be used to enter patient and exam data, according to Kodak.
Another application, DirectView Total Quality Tool, allows CR 800 and CR 900 users to implement an automated quality control program, ensuring that the systems are functioning within Kodak's design specifications.
Kodak has also released its upgraded DryView 8200 laser imager. This new PACS Link B+ version enhances connectivity to Kodak CR and DR systems, according to the vendor.
In networking developments, Kodak is introducing Step One Networks, entry-level network offerings designed to connect both DICOM and non-DICOM modalities with laser imagers, according to Kodak. Step One Networks are available in the U.S., with other regions scheduled for distribution by the fourth quarter.
Kodak is also planning interoperability software upgrades to its PACS workstations, archive, CR, and DR systems to enhance the display of images and the functionality of image management tools, Kodak said. These upgrades will be available worldwide in the third quarter.
In its analog business, Kodak is introducing a medical x-ray processor designed for low-volume cost-sensitive customers. The processor will be available in certain Latin American, Eastern European, and Asia-Pacific countries beginning in August, according to the firm. Kodak is also rolling out a new cassette for oncology applications, as well as a new X-Omat radiology film developer.
