Digital x-ray and bone densitometry provider Hologic has formed several new alliances, with an eye towards reducing expenses and increasing revenues from the European market. The Bedford, MA-based firm has inked an agreement with French firm Stephanix, a provider of remote radiography/fluoroscopy tables and other x-ray equipment.
Stephanix will gain exclusive rights to Hologic's bone densitometry, mammography, digital imaging, and general radiography products in France. In another distribution deal, Hologic has signed on Spanish x-ray equipment manufacturer Radiologia, which will hold exclusive rights for Hologic's bone densitometry, digital imaging, and general radiography products in Spain, and bone densitometry, mammography, digital imaging and general radiography products in Portugal.
Hologic said it would also transfer some of its assets in these countries, including a majority of Hologic personnel, as part of these alliances. In another new partnership, x-ray generator provider Sedecal will supply all Hologic customers in these territories with its high-frequency x-ray generators.
For Hologic, the new relationships are part of the company's initiative to reduce operating expenses and increase revenues, said president and CEO Jack Cumming. The company is also consolidating European sales and service support into its Brussels headquarters.
