Interventional device firm Guidant has received CE Mark approval for its Multi-Link Vision coronary stent system, a cobalt-chromium alloy stent for the treatment of coronary artery disease. The low-nickel-content alloy provides radial strength and visibility and allows the unit to have thin stent struts and easier deliverability, according to the Indianapolis-based developer.
Guidant plans to use cobalt-chromium stents in future stent and drug-eluting stent products. The vendor expects to introduce a small-vessel cobalt-chromium stent in Europe during the second quarter of 2003.
