Cordis introduces Steer-It guidewire

Johnson & Johnson subsidiary Cordis said its Steer-It deflecting-tip guidewire is now available for commercial use in the U.S., Canada, and Europe.

The device is used for positioning catheters and other interventional devices, such as drug-eluting stents, in a patient's coronary artery, and it can also be used in peripheral arteries. The tip can be manipulated to bend in two directions, enabling it to treat hard-to-reach blockages, including those in tortuous vessels, previously deployed stents, or side branches of an artery, according to the Miami Lakes, FL-based company.
