Carestream Health takes wing; CT lung screening redux

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

It's a done deal -- Canadian investment firm Onex has completed its acquisition of Eastman Kodak's Health Group, with the new business starting operations today as Carestream Health.

Kodak in 2006 announced that it would be selling the division, and in January said that Onex was the buyer. The new Carestream Health has 8,100 employees around the world and generates $2.35 billion (U.S.) in revenues.

But can Carestream manage the tricky transition from its legacy in film to the future in digital imaging and PACS? Only time will tell. In the meantime, get all the details on the new Carestream Health by clicking here.

When you're done, check out the latest salvo in the ongoing battle over CT lung screening. A group from New York state employed a low-dose screening protocol that they said detected cancers at an early stage without producing large numbers of false positives. That story is available by clicking here.
