Samsung launches new flat-panel digital detector

Samsung Electronics of Seoul, South Korea, announced it has developed a flat-panel digital x-ray detector (FPXD).

The detector measures 45 cm wide and 46 cm high or 61 cm diagonally, and boasts a 3072 x 3072 resolution (9.4 megapixels). Samsung anticipates other applications besides x-ray systems, including being adapted for more advanced diagnostic imaging such as CT.

The detector will be available worldwide beginning the first quarter of 2008, according to Samsung.
