Philips Healthcare of Andover, MA, has introduced VasoCT, a new configuration for its Allura Xper interventional x-ray system designed to visualize structures beyond a clot and allow physicians to identify and assess the size and extent of an ischemic stroke.
VasoCT is based on a 3D rotational scan and a special injection protocol. It provides a view of the location and size of an occlusion and surrounding cerebral blood vessels, which leads to assessment and implementation of treatment, Philips said. VasoCT also visually aids physicians in navigating through the clot in the right direction.
VasoCT will be available in the near future as an interventional configuration to the Allura Xper interventional neuroradiology suite.
