Surgical visualization software firm Mazor Surgical Technologies of Caesarea, Israel, has launched a new 3D imaging tool that enables facilities with 2D C-arms to perform 3D imaging.
Called C-InSight, the system includes an attachment that is fixed to a C-arm to enable the unit to produce 3D images. Mazor claims that the product will enable surgeons to make corrections during procedures by providing in-depth imaging, reducing the need for revision surgeries.
A C-arm retrofitted with the C-InSight attachment emits one-third less radiation than a dedicated 3D C-arm, according to the company. It also reduces the need for postsurgery CT scans, further lowering radiation dose to patients.
