Siemens installs 1st Luminos Agile in U.S.

Siemens Healthcare has made its first U.S. installation of a Luminos Agile digital radiography/fluoroscopy (R/F) system since the modality received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance in June 2011.

The system was installed at the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children in Orlando, FL.

Luminos Agile features a 17 x 17-inch flat-panel digital detector and can be used for both fluoroscopy and radiography, according to Siemens. The flat-panel detector enables physicians to view an image that is up to 117% larger than with conventional R/F systems, allowing examination of a wider area of the anatomy without repositioning the patient. This capability not only reduces radiation dose exposure, it can also reduce the exam time.

The system's table adjusts height from 25 inches to 44 inches to accommodate children and patients with mobility challenges. The table has a weight capacity of 600 lb and a 24-inch wide opening to provide easy access for bariatric and immobile patients. Operator controls are located directly on the system to improve convenience for staff.
