GE introduces OR hybrid system at ACC

GE Healthcare used this week's American College of Cardiology (ACC) annual meeting to launch a new imaging system designed to guide procedures in a hybrid operating room (OR), where physicians perform both transcatheter-based and open surgical procedures.

Innova IGS 520/530 OR is designed for use in a hybrid operating room setting, allowing both transcatheter and open surgical procedures to be performed in one room. The system has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration clearance.

Also at ACC, GE highlighted Discovery IGS 730, an interventional x-ray system that can be used in either a floor- or ceiling-mounted configuration. The system was introduced at the RSNA 2011 meeting.

Finally, GE is promoting its Innova HeartVision software, which fuses real-time 2D x-ray images and 3D models from multiple modalities. It can be synchronized with electrocardiogram (ECG) gating to help compensate for patient heart and respiratory motion during procedures, according to the company.
